Harley-Davidson.Panhead in Clinton Township, MI

This 1948 Panhead was found in the corner of a garage after sitting for around 15 years. A restoration was started almost 20 years ago without being completed. What you see is the way we found the bike. Engine is a 48 FL with matching belly numbers no welds or repairs. Engine looks like it had been rebuilt at the beginning of the restoration. Engine turns over freely. Cylinder heads are ? 48 part numbers. Date coding on cylinder heads appears to be year 8. The eight tends to look like a nine on one of the sand casting. Cylinders have been painted crinkle black. There is no intake manifold, comes with an M 53 linkert carburetor and coil. Oil pump cover is not correct. There is no generator or regulator. There are no front or rear exhaust pipes.
